It had been part of the initial plan to cycle the Jamberoo Mountain road and Kangaroo Valley road. In order to avoid starting a new journal, this will be an appendix to the current journal.
Christmas over I suggested to my son we should give the Jamberoo Mountain road a try.... it is supposed to be quite steep... So we set off on a Wednesday morning, through the Royal National Park, toward Wollongong, then Kiama, and Jamberoo. Son's bike chain snaps into pieces, we bush walk to Otford train station, change chain in Wollongong, and go to Kiama, and enjoy the beautiful country side to Jamberoo. We stay for the night, and next day up Jamberoo Mtn rd, and so on. It was lovely to spend time with him.... starting on the mountaina rd he was was having the same dialogue I had at the start of my first big climb toward Cement Creek.... Inch by inch...... In a couple of weeks will catch train to Moss Vale and cycle to Fitzroy Falls, Kangaroo Valley and the valley road to Berri and on to Kiama. This ought to conclude unfinished business in the Illawara region.
